The Compass - How to Help

Volunteers

Who can volunteer: Anyone! We have jobs for all including sit down and non-client interacting jobs. Students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent.

You say: "But I go away. So I can't volunteer!"
We say: "Sure you can! This is a flexible volunteer opportunity."

You do not have to sign up for a regular shift, or make a weekly commitment. You sign up for the times you are available. You can even sign up for one shift at a time.

What do volunteers do? We try to give you a job you are comfortable with. Volunteers might sort food, help a client shop, sit and talk to a client, clean the drop-in centre, make coffee and much more.

These are the shifts:
    Mondays 2:30pm-5:30pm
                   5:30pm-8:30pm
    Wednesdays 1:30pm-5:30pm
    Fridays    11:30am-2:30pm
                    2:30pm-5:30pm

Any shift you are willing to help with is greatly needed and appreciated. Orientation is provided and everyone at The Compass is friendly! Try us, you'll love us!

Application forms are available at your church office, at The Compass, or click here. and print a copy. Return completed forms to your church office or to The Compass. The Compass brochures are available at your church and at The Compass.

Fund Raising

Many of the congregations supporting this project hold fund raising events. These may be concerts, dinners, or anything else you can think of. Please send a notice of any events you plan to this web site, so we can help publicize it. (The project has a charitable organization number, but arrangements to give out receipts using this number must be made in advance with the treasurer, to ensure we comply with government regulations.)

Food Donations

The Compass is always glad to receive donations of non-perishable food items and personal care items. We particularly need child-friendly food, including things suitable for school lunches.

Monetary donations are always greatly appreciated

They enable us to purchase specific food items as we need them, to buy fresh perishable produce and to support our many other outreach programs for our clientele.

There are several ways you can give to The Compass:
